Rooted in Family, Made in Mississippi
Heartwood: Architecture for the Birds was born in Star, Mississippi, shaped by the vision and stewardship of the Glass family. Grounded in faith, guided by family, and devoted to craftsmanship, the Heartwood birdhouse line earned both admiration and trust far beyond its Southern roots. In January of 2025, the Blossom family was entrusted with Heartwood by the Glass family — an act of Providence that felt less like an acquisition and more like a calling. Both families share the same values: a commitment to Christ, a belief in working side by side as a family, and a desire to create honest, well-made products that invite people to slow down and reconnect with the natural world.
Today, Heartwood is proudly carried forward by the Blossom family through their company, Historic Woods. Led by Bill Blossom and his daughter Elizabeth Blossom Looser, the mission of Historic Woods is to honor what came before while thoughtfully shaping what comes next. Now rooted in Tupelo, Mississippi, Historic Woods has established a new home for the Heartwood line, including a soon-to-open showroom designed to welcome longtime customers and new friends with the same sense of intention found in every piece. Though generations may change, the heart of the work remains the same: thoughtful, enduring designs that bring grace to outdoor spaces and a meaningful connection between people and nature.
